My oncologist gave me a list of things to do and take to help with the side effects of treatment. Please make sure to consult with your doctor before starting any medication regimen while on chemotherapy. Not all apply for each treatment.
Nerve Protection Regimen
- Vitamin B6- 100 mg twice a day
- Glutamine powder- 10 GMS daily
- Senokot S or Miralax for constipation (Adriamycin and Cytoxan)
- If experiencing diarrhea take Imodium (Adriamycin and Cytoxan)
- Liquid tears- make sure to rinse each eye at least 4 times a day for 48 hours after Chemotherapy. It effects your tears ducts for some reason. From my experience my eyes dried out
- Saline nose spray as needed for dryness
- Coconut or almond oil on a Q-tip along membranes inside nostrils a least twice a day
- Cold packs or ice to toenails and fingernails while receiving Taxol treatment
- Take Claritin for the first 3 days to help with joint pain. For some reason it relieves some of the pain for achy joints .( Adriamycin and Cytoxan)
